Client Spotlight: Holly Meyer Design

Holly Meyer is the visionary behind Holly Meyer Design, a boutique graphic and web design studio.

But Holly does so much more than just graphic and web design. Her passion lies in helping her clients and community discover their roar.

"Your roar is that innate passion that lives deep within your heart."
Holly Meyer | Holly Meyer Design

Holly helps her clients unleash their inner roar through intentional branding, web design and coaching.

When Holly came to me for custom brand photography, she needed a full collection of branded images to cover all the needs of her multifaceted brand.

  • Online + Email Courses
  • Design Tutorials
  • Coaching Packages
  • The Roar Tribe Community

Holly’s brand colors are black, white, gold, army green, and blush with stripes, cat prints, polka dots and feathers to liven things up. She preferred succulents and greenery over flowers and wanted her brand photography to embrace being unique and wild. Her brand words are bold, organic, empowered, and personable - a perfect balance between Kate Spade and Anthropologie.

For her unique business we needed a mix of flatlay and lifestyle images. She also needed images that were flexible enough to crop into blog + social graphics and possibly to freshen up her pricing lookbook.

I focused the collection around a lot of horizontals for website layouts and full frame styling so she could crop into the images for more uses.

Based on her inspiration images Holly preferred her brand photos styled kinda messy or imperfect. Embracing the feeling of wild, fierce and natural.

Holly sent me a lot of her own props and we filled in the gaps with a selection of props from my collection + fresh succulents.

Themes included a book bag for her "Lessons, Tips + Tricks" (aka blog), design tools for courses and tutorials, roar-inspired styling (cat/lion accents) for the coaching packages, and tech/desktop themes for general business use.

Client Spotlight: She Plans

Ashley Staum is the owner of She Plans and creator of the To Do List Planner. The She Plans line of planners and printables are perfectly understated, with simple and beautiful designs. Ashley's products have a grown-up style with pages that are just black and white - yet designed with sophistication.

As I worked with Ashley during The Style Discovery process it was clear her planners were created to serve a greater purpose than just a cute tool to keep you organized. She had a message, and her message was two-fold:

"Believe in yourself and your dreams enough to make them a priority in your life."
Ashley Staum | She Plans

Her customers are mostly moms who are rediscovering themselves as individual women, starting to listen to that quiet voice that says it's time to be YOU. She encourages them to take the leap of faith and follow those dreams and love yourself enough to take care of yourself.

"Create the space to let life happen."
Ashley Staum | She Plans

Ashley helps her clients to be organized and super productive when it's time to work. Allowing for more space to spend unplanned quality time with their families,  where just making some muffins can be the "activity" of the day!

We took these characteristics of her branding and target market and applied them to the styling of her products.

Ashley contacted me needing several types of brand photos to promote the launch of her 2017 Collection. She wanted:

  • to update her shop listings with simple product shots of the covers and inside layouts of the planners on white backgrounds.
  • a collection of flatlay and lifestyle product photos of the planners styled for the website and Instagram.
  • to incorporated a few custom stock photos without the planners to for the She Plans Instagram feed.
  • to include hands to add some realness and human connection.

Since Ashley recently did some tweaking to the She Plans branding she sent over her brand board with her logo, colors and patterns from her graphic designer. Her brand colors are navy, gray/blue, white, golds and tans.

On the Style Consultation call we discussed her how her clients use her product and where, deciding on a few themed set-ups for her shoot - the kitchen table with snacks, the office with desk accessories and on the go. I added some dimension and texture to the photos by pulling in the rattan/woven elements and the planted greenery shown in a few of her inspiration images.

She Plans embraces an approachable Hamptons + Cape Cod style. Ashley likes her brand to look a bit aspirational, something that is yours and special. Something that you can hold your dreams and goals in, but is also approachable.

You can find all of Ashley's beautiful planners and printables at and follow along on Instagram @she_plans

If you'd like to styled photos of your products too, I'd love for you to reach out! You can find more information right here.

Client Spotlight: H. & Clark

Rachel and Andrew Clark are part of a long line of leather craftsmen. In fact, six generations of Howlett’s (Andrew’s family) have owned and operated Auburn Leather in Auburn, Kentucky for over 150 years.

In 2014, they started H. & Clark to honor their remarkable family history and to showcase the timelessness of quality materials.

The Clark's design each piece with a minimalist aesthetic that is timeless, classic and everlasting. Then have it handcrafted by Auburn Leather following the same tanning and fabrication practices used for decades. But their meticulous attention to sourcing unique and quality materials doesn't stop there.

The Holden Tote, named after their son, and their other accessories are handcrafted out of upcycled leather left over from larger hides that were used in lace making and are tanned and assembled in Kentucky. Each item is adorned with a hand-stamped copper tag and the totes include a unique interior pocket that is hand-dyed in California using 100% cotton ducking and fiber-reactive dyes. All of these details culminate into one-of-a-kind works of art designed for your everyday life.

When I spoke with Rachel about her photo shoot, she made it clear that she loved their photos taken last year - but felt they didn’t capture her brand as well as they could have. She loves clean lines, urban settings and cool colors. She wanted to stay away from a “bohemian” look and keep styling simple and minimalist with a focus on the products themselves.

Some of their brand icons were Madewell, J. Crew and Kinfolk with a dash of Alder & Co., Ace Hotel and Darling Mag. We really focused on the images on her mood board and drew out the elements that spoke to her brand the best. Light backgrounds, neutrals, soft greens and charcoal accents, keeping the prop selections and styling simple and minimalist while still conveying the story of a well-lived life.

H. & Clark has used their new styled product photography to update their home page, as promotional announcements on social media and most importantly as jaw-dropping shop listings.

I gushed over their products so much during the shoot that my boyfriend surprised me with my very own Holden Tote for my birthday last week! (Actually, I believe I said "I'm putting one of these on my birthday wish list! Hint. Hint.")

So drop some hints, or just go ahead and treat yourself! All of their pieces are truly beautiful and can be found at
